What Does Being Okay Imply?

12 May

Being okay is being neither happy nor sad.  It is a cousin to being fine and being alright.

Okay is not an emotion.  It is an agreement or something that is acceptable.

If you ask me if I’m okay, I will say yes knowing that it is a lie since it is impossible for me to be okay.

Saying I’m okay serves as a placeholder in the limbo of emotions.

I don’t know what I’m feeling or what to feel so I answer with a statement that will quiet and suffice the inquirer.

“How are you?”

“I’m okay.”
